April 4th, 2009Do you consider red wine as a healthy drink or a toxin? According to Plato in ancient times, nothing was more better or excellent gift then wine which was given to human kind by Gods. And the current day research proves the fact that a glass of wine can be something more then a mere feeling of relaxation. It seems that the French are more aware of the advantages of red wine compared to the Germans, since a study conducted on red wines from both the places revealed that the ones from France delivered a higher health merit due to the presence of higher antioxidants. It is believed by the experts, that red wine can also prevent any kind of heart problems because of certain compounds it contain. This may invite even more researchers to do studies on other benefits of red wine to heart.
More than a couple of thousand of researches conducted over a duration of 10 years also proved the fact that a small intake of red wine can enhance cardiovascular health. This cardio aiding effect is due to the anti-oxidants which are present in the seeds and skin of red grape. According to experts, antioxidants known as flavonoids can also lower the danger of coronary heart in several ways: by lowering the low-density lipoprotein production or the bad-cholesterol in different terms, by increasing high-density lipoprotein also known as HDL or the good-cholesterol, and finally by lowering clotting of blood.
Further researches have also found out that consuming small content of red wine could be advantageous in many ways other than just heart. One such study proved that the anti-oxidant resveratrol found in red grape’s skin, might be helpful in preventing tumor growth in a few cancers. While other study indicated the involvement of resveratrol in aiding the making of nerve cells, which according to experts may be vital in treating neurological disorders like Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s.
Most recent facts offered to the American-Association for Dental-Research (AADR) at an annual meeting happening in Orlando, Florida shown that polyphenols found in red wine could also fight some gum disease.
It is believed that the free radicals are partly responsible in the growth of gum diseases, and they are created by resistant cells. To keep the gums healthy, its really important that the free radicals are maintained at a lower level. Studies indicate that polyphenols found in red wine really help in achieving this, thus providing healthy gums.
