The most important reasons to start a weight-loss program are to look and feel great and to reduce the risk of health complications, such as heart disease and diabetes. Before you start, however, it is important to assess your current starting point as it is to set your final goal. It is just as important to define your current starting point, yuo must assess how much you weigh now and how much weight you need to lose. The are three things you need in order to determine your overall physical condition: your height and weight measurements along with your Body Mass Index (BMI). A final piece of information that you need to determine your weight-loss goals is your family history.

Your Body Mass Index (BMI) is a measure of body fat based on height and weight that applies to all adult men and women. It allows people to assess their current physical status using a standard to compare it to. We need a standard because body composition can vary greatly from individual to individual. Two people who possess the same height and weight can have different bone structure and varying percentages of muscle and fat. Therefore, your weight alone is not the only factor in assessing your risk for weight-related health issues. Your BMI also can help indicate whether or not your health is at risk.

For adults 18 years and older, the first step is to measure your height and weight. Then, plug those two numbers in the the follow formula to find your BMI. BMI = Weight in Pounds divided by (Height in inches) x (Height in inches). Then multiply that by 703 and you have your BMI.

If your BMI falls within the range of 19 to 24.9, you are considered healthy. If you BMI is less than 18.5, you are considered underweight. If you BMI lands from 25 to 29.9, you are considered overweight and have an increased risk of developing health problems. Finally, if your BMI is 30 or above, you are considered obese. If you fall into the last two categories, it is essential to start or manage your weight loss program.

I want to try diet pills and see if maybe that will jump start my weight loss. I have been to see my doctor and they have ran tests and can find no reason why I can’t lose weight. I try to limit fat and calories and I do cardio for 45 min every other day. Ideally the diet pill would help curb hunger and give more energy but really any one that’s safe and effective I’m willing to try.

Originating from the heart of the amazon this berry contains more nutrients than any other fruit known to man. Dr. Oz and Oprah have teamed up to spread the word on this miracle fruit by, introducing it to her fans on her television show. Offering each audience member a sample while explaining what exactly this product does.

So what is so good about the acai berry? As Oprah’s associate Dr. Oz explains the incredible amount of nutrients inside such as, A, B1 and D vitamins. He also goes into detail about how the vitamin D is essential for calcium absorption. Particularly needed by many seniors due to bone loss. Going on to the day to day affects range from higher energy to waking up without grogginess. Oprah has stated ” I feel more healthy and much more alive.” Not only does the acai berry boost your energy it also increases the bodies immune system with its high concentrations of antioxidants.

This was not the first time the acai berry was showcased on national television. The University of Florida researchers have proven the acai berries juice to contain chemicals that fight and suppress cancer cells which also happened to be mentioned on Oprah. The fatty Omega acids are known to eliminate the bad cholesterol in the bodies blood stream. This berry has been used as medicine and dietary supplement by the natives who scavenge for it.

The natives of the rain forest mainly utilize the juices of the acai berry for marinating meats and medicine. Locals have found this berry to be a true gem of the rain forest, eagerly climbing the acai tree for a large helping. Growing on top of large palm trees this berry buds in bunches of two to four on each tree. Oprah stating this to be “another miracle of the rain forest” as Dr. Oz explains how the natives using the acai berry look to have better skin tone and healthier offspring. Closing the subject to the audience by showing a native man harvesting the berries juice for his family.

Go ahead and give the acai berry a try, to get your free sample of acai berry

Today’s world is fast paced with the improvements in technology gadgets to make life simpler. Well making the life simpler comes with a price. Convenience and comfort rewards minimum physical activity and eventually gets you obese. Sometimes obesity strikes in so quickly that we do notice it yet fail to act against it.

Though inactivity or lack of regular exercise results in over weight, sometime there could be other contributing factors as well. Like the saying goes ‘you are what you eat’ eating habits plays a vital role in an individual’s physique. Unhealthy eating habits include eating too much of carbohydrate rich food and fatty foods and sugar. Sometimes irregular eating habits may also be a reason for obesity. Eating too much than required is sometimes a psychological way of responding to depression. Other than these certain medical conditions such as hyperthyroidism where thyroid deficiency induces imbalance in the metabolism and fatty acid deficiency which leads to craving for fatty food. Food sensitivity also could be a cause for obesity since consuming those foods leads to fluid retention and obesity. Drugs such as anti depressants, steroids, diabetic medication and nonsteroidal anti inflammatory drugs may also cause weight gain.

When it comes to losing weight understanding your metabolism rate is important. Those with low metabolism rate may find it harder to lose weight since they tend to store fat in their bodies easier and quicker. Eating balanced diet with minimum fat, sugars and starch and good proportion of protein, vitamins and minerals, help burn the stored fats. To mobilize the fat cells, exercise needs to be adopted with expert guidance. Cardio vascular exercises has better result in burning fat and toning up the body than the strength training exercises. For those who do not exercise regularly may have to start up the work out regime with proper care and attention. Combination of regular exercise and balanced diet is the first step towards losing weight.

Several other lifestyle modifications can be followed in addition to adapting exercise and proper diet towards a healthy weight loss. Drinking plenty of water will help in losing weight rapidly since water helps to flush out the toxins and fat that is burnt through exercise. Including lot of fresh fruits and vegetables in the diet along with protein rich foods provide vital nutrients to balance excess loss of weight. Eating dinner about 3 to 4 hours before sleep helps the food to get burnt to some extent before sleep, whereas otherwise the food gets stored in the body. Eating more towards the beginning of the day and eventually reducing through the end of the day keeps the body from storing the food. Eating the food slowly and in small quantities helps in better absorption of the nutrients. Keeping yourself busy and active throughout the day helps you stay away from depression and overeating.

The market is flooded with lot of diet supplements to burn fat. Though they may help you reduce excess fat quickly, they normally do not go a long way in sustaining the lost weight.
